ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This piece was inspired during a workshop I took about self-healing and reconnecting with ourselves. Throughout the workshop, I explored how I could take better care of myself and what steps I needed to take in order to improve my health - physical, emotional and spiritual. My biggest takeaway was balance. Having balance and being fully aligned with ourselves in all aspects of our lives is essential. The series "Alignment" focuses on just that - how we can be in balance and harmony. Focusing on our root chakra, we ground ourselves, creating a sense of stability and security. With our feet firmly planted in the ground, we deeply and safely connect ourselves with the Earth. We take care of ourselves emotionally, spiritually, mentally, and physically. We commit ourselves to our life's purpose. Life is good.

Together with my grandfather, we would draw pictures with crayons and markers of the world around us and characters that expressed how we felt. Today, I have traded my crayons for paintbrushes. When I am not painting, I work with elementary students, sharing my passion for art with tomorrow's future leaders (and buyers of art!). Although my grandparent's kitchen table now is the center piece in my own kitchen, I have never forgotten the importance of expressing one's ideas and the intimate connection we make when creating and viewing art. Art truly is not to be 'understood' per say, but rather experienced with our minds, our hearts and our souls.
