About The Artwork

'Alouette with two birds' 'Alouette' means “lark” in French Vibrant and intimate, this ongoing series of portraits explores the interplay of color and expression. Spontaneous acrylic textures overlay simple forms, evoking a sense of both power and vulnerability. I build up rippling layers of pigment using palette knives, brushes, fingers, and fluid trails of color. Modern in composition yet deeply personal, these optimistic portraits capture the wonder of individuality. Through eddies of color and raw gestural brushstrokes, I seek to convey the nuances of unspoken feelings and inner life. Moving to France sharpened my sensitivity to the language of the body and spirit. I aim to create images that need no translation, and that speak directly to the viewer's imagination. By pairing an intuitive painting method with vivid hues and thoughtful expressions, this series offers a celebration of humanity in all its variations. From confidence to joy, strength to sweetness, these diverse femmes reveal the many dimensions of the human experience.

Look around! The world is full of past and future. The marks we made and are yet to make. As a painter and ceramicist inspired by the natural world, I use color, form, and texture to explore the relationship between the present and the past. My work often features archetypal imagery like horses, animals, people, landscapes and seascapes. Through my paintings of horses, I aim to map a courageous and empathic path to rediscovering our primal human drives and vulnerabilities. The horse represents the ideal, universal embodiment of natural power. I depict the horse obscured by veils, which alter its appearance while allowing its essence to remain visible. The veils symbolise the passage of time and the layers of cultural, historical and religious influences that reframe our core impulses. By revealing the original form beneath these veils, I seek to facilitate a visceral connection to our shared human origins across all eras. My goal is to create immersive works that speak to our common humanity.
