The inspiration for this piece came from the world created by Sarah J Maas in her trilogy "A Court of Thorns and Roses". Amarantha was a character that was alluded to and discussed for the first book and came into the narrative in the second. She wove a spell over the lands that subjugated and controlled beings from every part of the universe. Each having strong cloud associations, I wanted to use an open cup flow technique to incorporate the control and flux of all the colours on the canvas, being swept up and into a spell. Encompassing all colours in the Empire Empire quelling rebellions for decades. "A Court of Thorns and Roses".
