Suzy Birstein creates expressive ceramic sculptures and oil paintings, that blend elements of mythology, pop culture, and classical influences. Her work often features richly textured surfaces, vibrant colours, and figurative forms that evoke themes of identity, femininity, and transformation. Inspired by historical and contemporary artistic traditions, Birstein draws from sources like Venetian carnival masks, ancient artifacts, and Hollywood glamour to create pieces that feel both timeless and theatrical.. Suzy was born in Toronto, Canada. She is an Honours graduate from Emily Carr University in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia. She is inspired by travels to Europe, Mexico and Southeast Asia, but Vancouver is her home. Suzy’s work is exhibited, published and collected internationally. She is also an arts educator, sharing her passion for creativity through workshops and mentorship. She is honoured to be the only artist and Canadian commissioned to create "Motion Pitchers", gifted to Oscar nominees for best actors and directors.
