ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Autoritratto #2 is the second painting of my series “Steps” (2012-2018). Each painting was a way of fixing different transformation steps of my identity as a person and as a painter. The series is painted in an experimental technique by mixing different materials (acrylic, oil and varnish) in order to create an uneven surface (see photos). Each painting of the series “Steps” is for sale individually, but the best way to exhibit them is in a combination of two or more (see photos). Each painting can hang next to another or on different walls into the same room. The combination of two or more paintings is for sale with a convenient price. Autoritratto #2 will be shipped in a sturdy, well-protected cardboard box. Ready to hang. No fraiming required. Dimensions: H 100 x W 90 x D 2 cm

My work explores the multiple possibilities and the ambiguity in painting. I mix masterfully different painting techniques and materials to create a high-quality “clean dirty” painting, made of tidy patches of color. I love to challenge the limits of painting and to question “good academic practice”. Giving a sense of intentional vagueness, my paintings are open for continuous question, even if they are definite figurative works. Painting is a fluid art form that flows together with the social evolution. Painting is the modernity’s ambiguous eyes. I was born in 1984 near Rome, Italy. 2003 to 2007 I attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, department of Painting. In 2008 I graduated and moved to Berlin. 2013 to 2016 I attended the Education Program for Theater Painting at the Berlin Opera Foundation. Currently I live in Berlin and work as a freelance artist and theater painter.
