About The Artwork
Scattered. This large abstract landscape is part of the Banksia series and depicts the seasons changing in the Australian Outback. The ancient landscape is depicted in layers of beige, cream and off white, with accents of dark brown, charcoal and gold leaf. The featured element is the woody, pitted banksia pod, scattered throughout the abstract landscape Charcoal black, gold leaf, shades of warm brown, beige and cream. Each canvas measures 41.5 inches/105cm high and 45 inches/115cm long. When hung with a gap between the paintings of 10 to 20cm ( 4 to 8 inches) the final length is 240 to 250cm long ( 95 to 98 inches long). I paint, I create and make things that make me happy. Sounds simple enough... but maybe that's what it should be. I was born in Ireland, grew up in Zimbabwe and have lived in the UK,USA and Australia. Meeting new people and exploring where I live inspires much of my work. I create in a medium appropriate to the inspiration. My artwork finds expression in oils, acrylics, charcoal, mixed media and glass. I use print making, stenciling, texture, fabric and transfers to create multi-layered tactile pieces. You will find my unique artwork in offices, hotels, homes, bars and restaurants in Australia, Europe, USA, Canada, China, Singapore and Southern Africa. I have 14 years of experience consulting on various international projects where the work was created to specification as the majority of the projects required custom made artwork. I understand how to evaluate and select materials that align with aesthetics, compliance and individual needs. I am very comfortable with collaborating on a brief and love the cross pollination of ideas that result from co-designing art work.
