I have heard other artists say art is their life without defining what art actually is. Being an artist comes with an extremely complex lifestyle. For me, art is a response, commentary, and criticism on countless events in our society and world. One can only respond to these happenings if one lives their life to the fullest. To do so, one must be independent and take charge of their schedule. To live as an independent artist can be scary, as it is an eternal battle for one’s personal freedom. The artist must walk a lonely road while seeking greatness and inspiration. People today have trouble understanding art because they live in a world charged with information from social media, new outlets, and television. They do not spend enough time alone with themselves, and that time would provide the opportunity to find their meaning of life in this complicated world. For many centuries it has been the mission of the artist to reflect true image and spiritual brokenness to a busy society. Art is a constant pursuit for perfection and a better world.
