The history of avocados began in distant Mexico. 10,000 years ago, the ancient Aztecs harvested avocados from the forests and used them as food. Later, they began to grow avocado trees near their dwellings, selecting the best specimens. The Aztecs believed that avocados had a stimulating effect and promoted fertility, so they gave it to newlyweds for their wedding. Avocado has a delicate creamy texture and a taste similar to butter with a hint of nuts and herbs.
