"Remember me? That time you told me to let go and close my eyes, to forget who and where I was and imagine to fly? Soar high above the land and the clouds, glide through the air as though gravity did not apply? You took my hand and said you’ll drift with me, weightless, not bound by any rules, just the sheer willingness and desire, feeling completely free. The earth beneath me disappeared, I felt fearless, unafraid to let go and trust myself in your hand. I cannot see your face, but there’s a space in my heart, where my love for you could blossom. I’d let go and hold your hand as I would soar in unknown heights, unafraid. "

Lucia Rusinakova (b. 1982) is a multi-disciplinary artist, creative, who uses painting and abstract collage to express ideas of transience, journeys, personal identity and legacy. Although Lucia felt a creative calling early on, she lacked the support system to develop her skills and creativity during her childhood. Nonetheless, her enthusiasm for drawing and her longing for artistic expression pushed her to explore various crafts during high school. In 2000 Lucia began her liberal arts studies -- studio arts and graphic design focus -- at DePaul University in Chicago. In 2011, a year after moving to London, Lucia’s life and her personal work faced a major transformation -- during and after her personal battle with cancer, when painting became a more significant part of her creative expression, as well as an element of her recovery process. Lucia enjoys “improvising” and experimenting with texture and paint treatment, layers, subtle details and simplicity vs. complexity. One of the main, recurring themes in her recent work is “transience” and “re-discovery.” The majority of her painting and mixed media work leans toward the abstract expressionism, while there is a more or less recognisable reference to traditional “landscape” subject matter. Her newest endeavour is to explore ideas of time/space, energy and particles, as well as a concept of “fluid reality” and its inherent subjectivity.
