ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This fantastic and bold portrait has a large and menacing prescence in any space. It was inspired by the political unrest around the Western coalition's invasion of Iraq in persuit of the "Weapons of Mass Destruction" which were never found in the end. The intention was to take a smiling picture of Tony Blair, and by manipulation of colour and marks, to create a more sinister face, without changing too much of the actual expression. The colours and marks used are not so subtle in their nod to war paint camouflage, and the deep, blood red background is also picked up in the eyes.
