This is a painting I did of myself, during a fairly emotionally tumultuous time in my life, hoping to capture the feeling I was having of drowning in my mania. People often envision mania as someone being impulsively happy, but it can also be detrimentally isolating and devastating. You can lose control of yourself and your life in a single day. This painting is me, forcing my way through the mess I made, to find air after suffocating in my emotions for too long. Oil paint is my preferred medium overall, and with this painting it helped me create the glazing and the layers I wanted that helped symbolize compiling emotions and barriers I was facing at that time.

I grew up living in Missoula, Montana and was taught to paint by my mother and PBS. I was a quiet kid, I never liked to talk so art became my outlet. My focus is in drawing and painting especially oil painting. I want my art to express the feelings I often feel I have no words for. Each canvas or page tells a story in silent color. I want my art to be a map of my growth as an artist, as woman, as a daughter, as a survivor and overall as a human. For commissions reach out to me at
