ARTIST'S NOTES Inspired by organic cells, fossils or minerals, I used India ink in combination with elements of the ancient Japanese Suminagashi technique of paper marbling. The aim was to create visual forms and textures that imitate and amplify nature. Due to the qualities of the materials used, the process of making was very fluid and alive, the resulting elements are partly calculation and partly chance. Just like in nature, every element is unique and cannot be repeated. Cutouts, made alongside the ink elements, both echo and contrast them. They serve as an allusion to the fragility of our nature. The artwork evokes a sense of meditative calm and tranquility. It attracts a viewer with its alive-like quality, as the shadows move depending on how light changes during the day. DETAILS Size: 94cm x 69cm | 37'' x 27'' Materials: India ink and surfactant floated on water, archival watercolour paper. Signature: signed with initials in the bottom right corner and with a full artist's name at the back. Framing: supplied float mounted but not framed (framing upon request). Packaging: shipped in a box, professionally and securely packaged. COMMISSIONS I accept bespoke artwork commissions.

Ariadna Dane is a multidisciplinary artist living and working in the UK. Having grown up in Siberia and travelled extensively, the artist discovered a connection to nature which became a source of inspiration for her evolving art practice. The creative process behind Dane's work involves experimentation with ink, cutouts and shadow techniques to imitate and amplify nature. Dane creates forms and textures with natural aesthetic qualities, reminiscent of plants, organic cells, celestial structures, minerals or fossils. Due to the nature of materials and techniques used, the process of making is fluid and alive. The resulting forms and textures are partially chance and partially calculation; the outcome of both ceding the artist’s control over the process and being acutely aware of the development of forms and textures. Just like in nature, every resulting element is unique and cannot be repeated. To complete her compositions, the artist uses a combination of collage and cut-outs. While echoing shapes of the ink elements, the cutouts represent their stark contrast, highlighting the disparity between existence and nonexistence. Yet together, they serve as a testament to a harmony that transcends human comprehension. Dane's artworks elicit a sense of wonder, transfigured into a moment of quiet reflection. They remind us that every ebb and flow, every rise and fall, is part of a larger, purposeful design.
