ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This work was inspired by a photograph seen on a calendar. I believe that the photograph was of a beach in Australia. The setting sun and the colours seen in the photograph and on the painting stood out to me aesthetically. In viewing this work I endeavoured to provide a scene of serenity and calm amidst the ever-approaching crashing waves. The medium of the painting enabled the flowing feeling seen in the sky and the beach itself, as well as enabled the blending of the colours together softening them and providing the glow of the setting sun.
