About the Artist

Jonathan Wijnberg

United States

I consider myself a regionalist painter. Similar in philosophy as Edward Hopper, Thomas Hart Benton and Andrew Wyeth. Instead of attaching themselves to a particular movement, they pushed their art into an individualist pursuit.
About 35 years ago I started out to be a graphic designer. My tenure in that workforce was short lived and in retrospect I never liked design as much as fine arts. I have been painting on a daily basis now for around twenty years. I like the idea of being versatile with my skills, and I try not to limit myself to one particular subject matter. Having good drawing skills
is important to me, and i believe it is an asset to all kinds of disciplines.
