I wanted to do a painting about gay life again, because it’s been a while. (Last year, I did “Just a nice butt”.) It’s just for fun, but also, I am a little worried that if I don’t do a gay-themed painting at least once a year, someone will revoke my “gay artist” status! ? This painting is a little tribute to the photographer JJ Geiger. I noticed is work several years ago. When I look at his photos, I find them quite poetic. There is emotion in the photos, not just beautiful people (and nice butts). Browsing through his Instagram, I noticed a photo of a couple. I immediately thought: that’s a bear and an otter! If these terms don’t mean anything to you, head over to Urban Dictionary and look it up. I’ll wait. I hope that couples everywhere (not just bears and otters) will enjoy this family portrait!

My art wants to put a smile on your face. All of my paintings tell a story, and every story has a little twist. You'll have to look closely: details matter to me. I was born and grew up in Taiwan, and moved to the Netherlands in 2014, where I am again living now after a 2-year stint in San Diego. You can check out my Instagram for a mix of work in progress and snapshots of my life with husband and cat.
