ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The oiginal painting was made as a donation to support Postcards From The Edge, an annual benefit for Visual . and is now in a private collection. Painting through the pandemic, I looked for exotic and colorful plant species to consider and chose a type of begonia because of the abundant spots and unique coloring. While working I felt transported out of confinement of my home to the tropical rainforest, and took joy in examining bold colors of the undulating leaves.

I grew up in rural Ohio, where in the 5th grade my art teacher began encouraging me to draw. While earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in drawing and painting at The Ohio State University, I was awarded a Ford Foundation Grant. I then moved to NYC to attend New York University, spent a semester abroad, painting, drawing, and sculpting in Venice, Italy, and earned a Master's degree in studio art. The New York metropolitan area has been my home ever since. I now live and work in Yonkers with my husband, John, who provides invaluable support, advice, and carpentry skills.
