This work was a piece that has evolved over years. It has sat in my studio through different stages and styles. At this time, I have been repurposing canvases, covering what was there as I adjust to a new phase in my life. I hope that people feel a sense of calm and reverie. The layers of paints and materials reflect the layers of years, experiences, and time.

I have been a working artist for over 20 years. After growing up outside of Chicago, I moved to New York, where I received my master's of art from the prestigious program through NYU and the International Center of Photography. When I returned to Chicago, I continued to work on my art, writing and curating all while raising 4 kids. My work focuses on the effects of genetics, the mother/daughter relationships, and the body. I explore themes of cancer as a metaphor in my own work as well as the biennial exhibit I curate, Voices & Visions, Standing on the Bridge Between Health and Disease. The mind, body and spirit connections and separations echo the theme in art that out of darkness comes light.
