This artwork embodies the beauty and traditions of Berber women, who are part of an ancient tribal community in North Africa with a rich history. The Berbers, one of the oldest ethnic groups in the region, have ancestors mentioned in ancient Egyptian inscriptions, and the term "Berber" originates from the Greeks, who labeled them as "barbarians" due to the unfamiliarity of their language. Interestingly, Berbers have European origins and are the indigenous people of North Africa, distinct from both black Africans and Arabs. During the Byzantine era, Christianity was the dominant religion among the Berbers, and it was only after the Arab conquest of North Africa that they embraced Islam. Encountering this people during my travels in Morocco was fascinating, and I learned a great deal about the history of the region from them. The face of this Berber woman is adorned with tattoos, and her eyes are accentuated with kohl, radiating mystery and depth. Her long, jet-black hair and sun-kissed skin shimmer with a golden hue, accentuating the luxury of natural beauty. The black headscarf with golden and violet threads adds sophistication to her appearance, while silver jewelry complements her overall look, emphasizing her status and grandeur. The ornaments in the background are crafted in the style of traditional Berber art, revealing the splendor and richness of Berber history.
