A project called “Trapped in the Woods” presents the forest as a living space. Its appearance as a curtain reveals an impenetrable thicket of tendrils and vines. And from here I go in search of those things that shaped the ruthlessness and cruelty of life. Regardless, I am looking for a new approach on how to display works such as Sitting Figures. This work arose in a spiritual exercise led by Marina Abramovich. It is enough to leave your eyes open for a while. Stop blinking. So that the first tear that appears in order to wet the shell of your eye will distort the world around you. Will melt and shatter the world into countless repetitions of the same fragment. What a second ago seemed such a solid and unshakable concept of the world that surrounds us, will burn with a purple-blue fire. The color spectrum is filled with flashes, highlights and shards of what we were so sure of. The picture of the world will cease its integral and indivisible existence, rolling down on your cheeks with burning tears. At first we are tempted to fight it, but only when we let go of ourselves can we free ourselves from physical limitations and transcend our momentary state. I carry over this exercise to my work "Sitting Figures" in the forest, leaving the participants' figures in a state of decay. The motive for renewal and conscious change is central to the work and calls for change. And this also applies to how we can experience our heritage differently than in the past.

Vlad Yurashko Born 1970 in Poltava, Ukraine Lives, study and works in Banska Bystrica, Slovakia I like painting as a medium. Through her, I try to talk about a complex, modern world. In 2011, I collaborated with Marina Abramovich as a reperformer during her retrospectives at the Garage Museum in Moscow. It was an unusual experience that made me see and experience reality through the stress of all the physical and emotional resources of my body. This invaluable experience inspired me to create a series of "Trapped in the Woods". After this series, my understanding of painting has changed. Now I create works of painting not only as conceptually distant images, reporting on the fact of the existence of the idea. But the paintings speak about the emotional and sensual experience of the painting process itself.
