As a Mixed Media artist, I delight in having a wealth of resources available to me. Be it paint, wood, stone or plaster, there's always a dance of elements, each bringing they're own characteristics into play in hopes that they complement the artist's own vision. The task of weaving these elements into a work with harmony and resonance is where my joy and focus lie. I have a background in dimensional sign fabrication, historic preservation, stone masonry and carpentry, so my work naturally draws from these practices in an otherwise aesthetic context. Feeling the materials in my hands, as well as engaging with the language of texture, is a vital part of the process. The integration of these aspects with form and the nuance of color offers a creative journey that immerses me in nature's beauty and connects me to an inherent 'spirit of place. The flavor of the southwest is often apparent as I try to convey my own personal interpretation of the environmental and cultural connections that are essential features of the region I call home. Symbol, as well as repeating patterns find their way into these designs in a way that I hope presents a certain primitive elegance that feeds the soul, as well as pleases the eye. Send me a message if you are interested in original works. Most of my creations are assembled with integrity on rigid wood panel and are especially durable. Be assured that all pieces are signed, authentically conceived and are one of a kind. Thanks for visiting my gallery, I hope you see something you like.
