ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The canvas took several painting layouts before this one arrived and stayed. The sassy and strong expressioned figure is joined by a focussed blue dog (nod to the black dog of PTSD) and is surrounded by animals hidden in the paintwork, icons and symbols playfully throughout her hair. Hard to even spot, the composition is built around a 1:1 SA80 Rifle, gusting a graphicised puff of smoke that fills the left side of the composition. Inspired in part by my brother, an advocate for animal rights and protection, the figure is a protector of nature and creatures, but followed by the trauma that comes from a deep empathy with animal-kind and the cruelty that they have been put through in our name. As tough a feeling as that must be, the driving sense of love and care towards nature that brings it about is beautiful. Sold, only available as prints.
