ABOUT THE ARTWORK

From my ongoing series of very deconstructed musicians in my signature Rhythmic Cubist style. I love painting a square composition they are so appealing to me for some reason. This one has the bass fiddle player and the sax and this time the cat is midnight blue, he likes to listen to jazz. I had a black cat for years and I often put him into my paintings. This painting is a cubist style composition with more muted colors than I usually use but for some reason I’m really into ecru lately. This painting is on loose canvas which is actually 60 x 60 inches, I've painted out to the edges so that once stretched the edges will be painted. Oil and cold wax medium on canvas. Signed front and back. The buyer will have to have it stretched and most frame shops can do that and offer other choices like framing etc. So it will be shipped rolled in a tube.

I started painting in bars, restaurants and the street, I painted life, people, music, street scenes. I painted on a lot of different surfaces, wood glass, metal, with oils, acrylics, pastels. My scenes started abstracting, which is life with the reality slightly peeled away to reveal the underlying energy, emotion, and movement. When I paint dancers I want the viewer to feel the movement, when I paint musicians I want them to feel the music. My abstractions of musicians and dancers have evolved into a style which could be referred to as “Rhythmic Cubism”. My palette ranges from raw earth tone harmonies to luscious crimson and scarlet to cerulean blues and deep ultramarine. High contrast and the dynamic use of line add to the power of my work. “My surrealistic world is converted into visual poetry inspired by passion, feelings and personal experiences. I paint a divers and complete story. Phrases are expressed in paint with very elaborate colors that reach the eyes of your soul.”
