Mary Rogas aka Malu is a contemporary artist capturing life experiences through various mediums onto canvas. Raised in Houston Texas, she had a long successful career and retired to pursue her passion of art. Her journey started in charcoal figurative photorealism drawings and encompasses watercolor, gouache, soft pastels, inks and acrylic. Her style is impressionistic and often deals with the topic of relationships and women’s rights. She has won awards from Camelback Art Gallery for several pieces. Silver award for “Heartbeat” from Boundaries series, she won Bronze for “Below the Surface” and was a Finalist for My Best Work for 2022 competitions. Her work was also chosen for group show at Ardest Gallery in The Woodlands, Texas. Through exhibitions and connections she has built a large following community of artists, collectors, art curators and art enthusiasts on a variety of social media platforms. Artist statement : My work is a recording of life experiences and the world around me. Experiences deeply rooted in my subconscious give way to exploring different mediums and emerge in my paintings, as I allow the brush and canvas to convey all that I experience and see.
