ABOUT THE ARTWORK

In my work, I mainly use decorative painting style, cubism, architectural motifs, urban landscapes and contours. The style of architectural cubism has become one of the main directions of my work for several reasons. This concerns, first of all, my worldview, worldview as an artist as a whole. Everything that we live with in our conscious and subconscious life passes through the prism of various worldviews, currents, the influence of our environment, events and various reactions to them. Every day we get different experiences. This prompted me to depict the surroundings as if from different angles and under different lighting, so in the paintings on the opposite sides of the cubic faces the color of the object or its shade changes. We all look at the same object, at the same phenomenon, but each person sees it differently. Cities in my paintings, such as Aegean cities of Turkey with sharp minarets and characteristic Anatolian houses; Greek towns - with Orthodox churches and white houses. Based on the angle from which we look at an object, phenomenon or event, we see it in such a "shade". In my paintings from the "Cubic Cities" series, I try to look at the architecture as if from ten pages at once, or, as in several of my paintings, to follow the same style in two neighboring states and combine two cities in one painting - showing their kinship, producing architecture the difference between them is only in color. Everything around interacts with each other. By interacting with each other, overlaying objects and appearing to create your own color scheme and image. I convey this interaction in my paintings as I experience it.

My name is Julia Mia. I am Ukrainian artist currently living in Turkey. I am a painter, art photographer, teacher of fine arts. In my works I use mainly decorative style of painting and modern cubism. I prefer to use a bright colors, decorative planes, lines and simple shapes in my painting. Colors are very important in my painting, especially complementary colors. I work in Techniques of oil painting, acrylic, mixed media, monumental painting. I took an inspiration from the cultural heritage of the Aegean region, Eastern culture and the synthesis of these two cultures. My main inspiration is a cityscapes and the landscapes I have around where I live and work . It can also be a scene in the street, a picture I saw or took, an emotion I lived. Painting is for me a necessity. I have an urge to express in a pictorial way things I see or feel and that touches me or transmits beauty. I like to start each painting as though it was something new, guided by my intuition, often led at first by colours, launch the work in a spontaneous way, depending on the place and moment I'm in. I do hope my work can show a glimpse of the beauty I see in my everyday life, even with it's nostalgic moments at times. My arts are my world, my soul, my knowledge The painters that inspire me most are the Paul Klee, Vasarelly, Egon Shille.
