Alie ten Hove lives and works in Markelo, a small village in the east of the Netherlands. Although I have taken painting lessons from a Dutch artist for several years, I am mainly self-taught. I have been painting since 1997. Starting out as a watercolorist, I soon moved on to acrylics. Acrylic gives me the opportunity to work in thick layers and structures, but also in a watercolor way Impressions and feelings from daily life and especially nature are a great source of inspiration for me, which I incorporate into my paintings according to my own insight. My landscapes are mainly inspired by Norwegian nature, but I also get a lot of inspiration from my surroundings in the Netherlands. Lately I have been painting mostly abstract; with many layers and many bright colours. Every time I start a new abstract painting, it's an adventure that I don't know where it will take me. By playing with colors I am trying to give my work a certain atmosphere and recognisability. I use paintbrush, palette knife and many other tools that are at hand. My works are to be found in private collections in the Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, UK and USA. Two paintings were acquired by ITV (UK) for the TV series 'Without Sin' 2022 Abstract Norwegian landscape and Mesa Arch Canyon Lands NP Utah
