This painting is primarily acrylic and texture on canvas with finished edges. When the painting was complete I wiped it with gold stain as I do many of my paintings. This gold highlights the textures and makes the painting glow. I do not like labels but use them for identification. To me the sha...

ABOUT FRANCES BEBE BURNS I am eighty-four years young, a lifetime citizen of Pueblo CO. I received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Southern Colorado State College with majors in art and psychology. After teaching art in middle school for several years, I spent many years purchasing and remodeling real-estate. I am still involved with owning and managing income properties. Raising three children, four, if a husband is included, returning to school and obtaining a degree while the children were infants and toddlers, putting my all into doing a good job of teaching, and finally, following my husband into real-estate, left me no time to pursue my own dreams. It is only in the last several years that I have been able to devote the time to pursue my own art. ABOUT MY ART The best way to describe myself is as an intuitive artist involved with all the principals of design plus texture, color, movement, etc. While I primarily use acrylic paint there is no limit to what I use as tools or materials. I begin most of my paintings with splashes of color on a wet board. Often I add texture in a random pattern. The movement of the paint determines the direction I take. Once I see something begin to develop I then purposely add to it, enhancing certain areas, removing others, etc. Painting is not a restful endeavor for me but actually very stressful. Almost every painting is a failure at the beginning. I don't try to say something profound but always attempt to create something unique of interest and beauty. State Fair Professional
