My name is Paula Kemp and I am a UK artist based in Staffordshire. Art has been my passion and sanctuary from a small child and I have recently been blessed to do it professionally. I am drawn to painting landscapes, people and dogs, as I guess these are my favourite things in life! In portraiture, aside from the likeness, I aim to capture the mood and personality of the subject, and with landscapes, I hope to create an emotion, connection or memory. On a landscapes piece, I generally approach it in an abstract way with oil paint with cold wax, this is created by applying layers, blending the colours, scraping into the work or adding texture, a continuous cycle of adding then taking away, and the exciting part is you never quite know how it is going to turn out! The process is completely immersive until it is finished. My paintings have sold worldwide, and I am excited to see what the future brings!
