Artist Statement Jolanda Bakker - van der Ploeg Born in 1981 in Middenmeer and now based in Schagen, the Netherlands. I am a visual artist drawn to the emotional power of color and light. Working with Lascaux acrylics to create vibrant, expressionistic landscapes. My work explores the balance between energy and tranquility. Nature is my main inspiration—its light, colors, and details bring me energy and peace, which I aim to reflect in my work. Through bold, layered brushstrokes, I express emotion, movement, and stillness. My life as an artist, mother, and nature lover is deeply woven into each piece. A painting is finished when it feels alive—strong, calm, and full of soul.
