ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The Body Sketching project, which was based on my processes of recognizing and building relationships with my body. With my example and these works, I want to inspire you to listen to yourself, instead of listening to someone else's advice from outside. Personally, it took me 5 years to establish contact with my desires and body, of which the last 2 years have been hard work. The best investment in yourself, which was given with great difficulty and through the strongest resistance.

Odarka, a Ukrainian artist, was born and raised in Ukraine. With a diverse ancestral background that includes Greek, Moldovan, Don Cossack, and French roots, Odarka's cultural heritage has been a significant influence on her artistic journey. At the age of 11, she immigrated to Moscow with her parents, seeking new opportunities. At the young age of 17, Odarka enrolled in the Russian Social University to study design, while simultaneously embarking on her professional career. Later, she transferred to Plekhanov Academy, where she further honed her skills and knowledge in the field. During this time, in 2013, Odarka engaged in a social project focused on education for children in Nepalese villages, in collaboration with Coca-Cola. She also delved into web design and worked on a website project based in London. In 2014, Odarka was accepted into the "Baza" School of Contemporary Art, specializing in art criticism and art history. She worked at renowned galleries such as Lumos Gallery and the Gallery of Eastern and Asian Art in Moscow, gaining valuable experience in the art industry. The birth of her son in 2016 marked a significant turning point in Odarka's artistic journey. Inspired by motherhood, she rekindled her passion for oil painting, dedicating herself to the creation of evocative and expressive artworks. In 2022, Odarka held her first solo exhibition at the "Who I Am" Gallery in Moscow, showcasing her profound artistic vision. However, due to the escalation of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, she made the difficult decision to leave Moscow behind and seek a new home. Since May 2022, Odarka has been living and working in Belgrade, Serbia. Immersed in a new environment, she draws inspiration from the city's rich cultural heritage and vibrant art scene. Odarka continues to explore her artistic voice, creating captivating pieces that reflect her personal experiences, emotions, and observations. Through her art, Odarka aims to transcend boundaries and connect with viewers on a profound level. Her work encompasses themes of identity, heritage, and the human condition, inviting contemplation and sparking conversations about the complexities of our world. Odarka's artistic journey is a testament to her resilience, adaptability, and unwavering dedication to her craft. She remains committed to pushing the boundaries of her artistic expression, forging her path as a talented Ukrainian artist making her mark on the global art stage.
