ABOUT THE ARTWORK

What/who inspired the work? The main inspiration comes from the role played by the Figure of the Polynesian dancer. She conquers with her smile, grace, and sinuous movements the eyes of all observers. She represents the desire for well-being and health in body and mind, the feminine beauty goddess of nature. The second role is played by the intense stare of the Flame angel fish. He represents a male figure that offers her love and friendship, a sort of platonic love that cannot be corresponded since he is a fierce full protector of his territories most of the time. The third player role in this composition is taken by the Gannet bird which symbolizes the real male figure. The gannet bird represents marriage and love, and it’s the real faithful lover who wants a family with a taste of romance. What do you hope its viewers will feel/think? My viewer's mind sinks inside the paint in an Art of internal introspection to appreciate the beauty of the fully detailed nature landscapes and symbolic elements I represent to create a sense of calmness. They can explore for hours each of the details that hide secrets inside my paintings. Why did you choose the medium, subject matter, and style? I have chosen acrylic on canvas because offers me the versatility to produce the same effects of older masters of paints and control the layerings. My subject matter is unique, no one is doing this style of painting with the amount of technique and know how I applied it. It’s a very complex process, that I made look simple by emphasizing the presence of nature. My style relies on pure figurative and a mix of unique techniques of multi-stenciling and layering transparencies that make this Art Unique. Out of the box

Adrian Schaefer Mathison was born on March 5th, 1970 in Caracas, Venezuela. Ex-Professor of Applied Arts at the GUC. Number fifth from a family of 4 brothers and 1 sister. Adrian is an artist who has a unique artistic stamp marked by bold and vibrant color harmonies in the form of Nature Figurativismus and a combination of Realismus, and geometric deepness in the form of Pop Art that stands to the eye in different perspective fields. Schafer’s work is a joyful explosion of color and form that pulls individuals and expectations into a dreamy world of liquid dreams. Highly influenced by different streams of arts Figurativism (Johan Anton), Pop art (Andy Warhol), and constructivism by Lissitsky, Adrian it’s a master in capturing the energy and excitement of nature life in every composition. Adrian takes commissioned work, where any member of a private client can be included in a particular setup or landmark. His parents Nelly Mathison (a Venezuelan pharmacist) and his dad (Alfonso Schafer) a German Businessman, who Loved nature and developed ideas in the Food industry, created in Adrian’s mind a very different cocktail for the Artist's path. As an artist, he constantly tries to push boundaries and experiments with new painting techniques, incorporating mixed media elements and playing with geometrical scale and proportion elements to create unique works in the realm of nature, that are both visually stunning and intellectually engaging, producing an art of intensive contemplation and relaxation for the observer. Adrian has created constantly enigmatic visual experiences since 1999. With the limitations of time and moving from country to country, Adrian has been able to make exhibitions in a few territories, including Venezuela, England, Egypt, and Germany. Now, he has started a new collection of Art pieces to continue with his plastic Arts development in Cairo, Caracas, and Munich.
