Yulia Katkova (b. 1986, Tashkent) is a visual artist based in Lima, Peru. Working primarily in oil, watercolor, and acrylic, she creates figurative paintings that explore identity, inner states, and the interplay between the individual and their surroundings. Her practice centers on female figures—often self-portraits—situated within urban nightscapes, vast horizons, or intimate domestic settings. These compositions function as psychological spaces where vulnerability and strength coexist, and personal experience quietly resonates with the universal. Katkova’s work evolves through long-term series including Tokyo Nights, In Front of the Endless Ocean, The Familiar, and Still You (Tú en Objetos). Approaching painting as a contemplative process, she prioritizes presence, emotional clarity, and technical precision. Ultimately, her paintings offer moments of stillness and recognition—not answers, but space: space to pause, observe, and encounter something quietly familiar.
