WELA (Elisabeth Wierzbicka) - A Paris based Polish born painter and sculptor. Was born in Cracow in 1964. She studied at the Cracow Academy of Fine Art from 1984-1989. In 1989 she continued her training at the Ecole Superiore of Fine Art in Paris and started her career as an international artist in several countries. In her Paris studio she paints, draws and makes monumental installations, which borrow ideas from the surface, volume and materials in contemporary painting and sculpture. She works with memory and identity, erasing and dividing time. The artist aim is to co-create with the spectator the totality of the virtual reality of drawing, time and space. "My work focuses on the private et public space, it is a process of transformation of the site by the sculpture, the drawing, the volume, the color, the son... A first of all visual viewpoint the impression is that an abstracted and figurative semi sign choreography that I would have thrown on any materials, in a space two - or threedimensional. An interpretive viewpoint, these signs speak about memory, identity, the appearance, the deletion, the time, the nature...I like to integrate in my work several elements, even contradictory that are going to form a formal entity, a works to several aspects . For me the most interesting aspect of the work it is the multitude of meanings, that allows the different interpretations, the different discoveries thanks to the form and to the metaphor that it comprises and the report with the environment. The relationship between the form, the figure, the object, the bottom and the space is in my very important work. The dynamics of perceptive objects, their movement, the perceptive combat between the sign and the void base an alive structure. In my installations I invite the spectator to play with its clean perception, to discover the wealth of interactions between the different composing and on the conceptual plan, to discover thanks to metaphors, the multi senses of the work." My works have been presented in 250 individual and group exhibitions in many countries, such as France, Great Britain, Germany, Poland, China, Lithuania, Norway, Japan, United States, Spain, Luxembourg, etc.
