About the Artist

Patricia Chueke

Brazil

Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, graduated in visual communication, at École d’Art Maryse Eloy, in Paris, France. (1990 to 1993). In 1997, created Chapa Estúdio (), a studio creating design and animation in Rio de Janeiro where I live.

My artistic process is shaped by the world of graphics, which I inhabit. I start by researching the repertoire of images, which I experiment with on the computer. I create layers of these images and search for their structure on the computer screen. Then I migrate to painting them and then return to the screen with a photograph of the initial painting. This process results in a pictorial work that invokes a sense of a collage.

My primary inspiration is the natural world, with its winding lines and asymmetrical shapes, its colours and forms. Sparse layers, paint drips on the canvas and covers the surface of the picture unifying beings and bodies.
