For this painting, I was inspired by the tranquility of the ocean after a storm. This is the feeling that the frightening element has already receded, and has come the time for blissful pacification. And only hints of traces of what happened remind us of what was experienced earlier. Each of us per...

Polina Urbanova, born in 1990 in Russia, currently lives and works in Prague, Czech Republic. An artist, and a psychoanalyst at the same time, in her works, Polina presents her own analysis of the world around her and herself in order to convey her impressions in images that will push the audience to reflect on various topics (the main thing is to reflection). Polina's pictures are a space for projections that arise in the audience and draw them into the flow of free associations, and, as a result, into the abyss of self-knowledge. Just as there are no right or wrong answers in psychoanalysis, so in the perception of art we are not guided by aesthetic templates, but only by our sense of inner pleasure (or displeasure). Thus, the paintings add authenticity and uniqueness to the interior. "In my idea, I started from the birth of painting - rock paintings. Some philosophers believe that humanity was born with the first movements of the "brush" of a primitive artist on the surface of a rock. This was the most important point of reference for human self-determination, a new round of development of the psyche, that step forward that forever changed a person's attitude to himself and the world around him - took place an externalization of the inner world into the outer one. In this way a human declared, "I am a human, and I am here." My works illustrate the presence of a person in the world (real or fantasy world), but what are the results of this being? - I leave this question open and invite the viewer to reflect on this alone with himself and my images. Nature and the environment around us are the main sources of artist's inspiration, because the artist's task is to catch what others don't notice. As the cave breed, which for centuries served as a shelter for people, gave us the origins of painting, so human-made buildings, after time, send us back to ancient times, revealing their beauty."
