This original painting is an abstract interpretation of the sun screens prevalent in late architect Le Corbusier's work. He was one of the first architects I was exposed to in architecture school and I was immediately taken by the prevalence of concrete and clean lines prevalent in his work. Specifically speaking, his oft clever use of sun shading devices on the exteriors of his buildings was the source of inspiration for this painting - which makes reference to no particular place or work of his, but aims at embodying the same rythym and shadow play so frequently found in his work. - acrylic on wood panel - 24 1/2" H x 24 1/2" W x 2" D - framed in solid oak and copper nails - signed and dated original
