ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This was inspired by a winter walk after a snowfall. I took some photos and knew this would make a great subject for a painting using a very simple colour pallet. The canal is created using a free flowing wet on wet technique, with the historic bridge providing the main focal point. White gouashe was used to highlight the snow. The result is a very peaceful image of a winter scene. I used water colour for its ability to do its own thing or to follow the brush based on the application methods.
