ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I am inspired by abstract artists like Helen Frankenthaler's bold use of colors as well as Joan Mitchel for her colors and Vera Molar for her use of shapes. I want the viewer to reealize we can break out of the boxes we are placed in or decorate those boxes to bring us joy! I am drawn to bright colors and simple shapes to convey a deeper meaning for the viewer. What kind of box do you live in?

Theresa Grohovsky was born in Zama Japan and has lived all over the world. She is an educator and contemporary artist. She is currently working on her Masters in Art and will be teaching art classes at Glynn Visual Arts Center on Saint Simons Island Georgia in the fall. She also serves on their education in the arts committee. Theresa considers herself an intuitive artist. She uses colors and texture to convey her thoughts and feelings. Color and form are constantly explored and she is influenced by nature, science and media. She creates vibrant and thought provoking pieces that take you to another place and time.
