ABOUT THE ARTWORK
"Bursting" is an Encaustic Wax painting on wood panel. It was painted using a blend of beeswax, tree sap (resin), leaf wax (carnuba) and pigments in the form of oil stick, and alcohol ink. Each layer was painted on, then fused with heat. The ink patterns that make up the flowers are formed using a technique popularized by Seattle artist Alyssa Tormey. I love the bright colors of this piece. "Bursting" represents the energy of Spring, and the kinetic aspects of nature. Green Buds swell and change, and eventually burst with color and shapes!! This painting is from a floral series I did in 2014. It is painted on a flat panel and framed in a plain natural colored wooden frame. It comes ready to hang with hanging hardware, a care sheet, a short history of encaustic wax, and artist bio, and a polishing cloth.
