INSPIRED by the ancient and untouched lush beech forests in New Zealand’s South Island. The title ‘But a Moment’ is a reflection of my awe and wonderment at being surrounded by such ancient beauty. These majestic trees which tower over you in the forest have been growing there over 400 years, and we are so blessed to get to enjoy their magnificence for a small moment in their lives. This painting exudes energy and motion, with a blurred effect of foliage reminiscent of exciting but fleeting road trip moments.

Alex DiMercurio, is a French-born artist based in Wellington, New Zealand. She has recently garnered national acclaim for her unique artistic voice, which seamlessly merges elements of post-impressionism, fauvism, and abstract realism. With a career spanning over 20 years, she has built meaningful connections with curators and collectors globally, steadily earning her place in the contemporary art world. DiMercurio's work is a profound exploration of nature's inherent beauty, rendered through a distinctive painterly style that combines bold textural impasto paint with fluid translucent brushwork. Celebrated for her unique colour palette and dynamic interplay of light and shadow, each work invites viewers into an immersive experience, encouraging a deeper contemplation of the natural world and the ephemeral passage of time. Renowned for her award-winning treescapes, DiMercurio captures the essence of nature's interconnectedness with a blend of energy, nostalgia, and serenity. Her recent focus on abstract cloudscapes continues this exploration, delving into the emotional resonance of refracted light and colour relationships in dramatic hues. These works, characterized by their textural depth and intensity, seemingly float off the walls, offering new perspectives both up close and from afar. Through her art, Alex DiMercurio seeks not only to celebrate the beauty of the natural world with a unique perspective but also to inspire a conservationist spirit, reminding us of our intrinsic connection to the environment and the need to preserve its fragile beauty.
