The 3rd artwork in my "Buttered Seasons" collection. Using only a butter knife, every stroke of paint was made to encapsulate the feeling of a chilly winter’s day by the lakeside. My name is Kristine Gargaritano and I am an artist from Toronto, Canada. As a medical student and as a painter, I am passionate when it comes continuous learning as well as fostering creativity. My paintings are inspired by places in which I have travelled around the world and I aim to encapsulate the feeling of those moments in my artwork. The process of creating art for me has always been centred around the experience of playing with colour and light. I like the way that colours peak through gaps in the overlying layers, adding another dimension to the relationships between existing colours within a given painting. This is what art means to me: Exploration. Exploration of colour, exploration of the world, and of course, exploration of the viewer's eye within the world that I've created on a canvas.
