About the Artist

Melania Tarricone

United Kingdom

Melania Tarricone, ( who paints under the name "Meltari") is an italian professional artist, coming from a small region of south Italy, Basilicata. One of four children, she was brought up by the lovely grandmother who gave her a natural and wilde sense of freedom. After the divorce of the parents, she studied in colleges directed by nuns, getting a diploma in teaching. Soon after the artist went on to pursue her real ambition, studying as a fashion designer. The transition of working with colours and shapes in the world of fashion to painting on canvas was simple and natural. Working first in the native town and then in Bologna, Paris, Helsinki and in Edinburgh, gave her great opportunities to develop a personal kind of art. Unconventional personification of dream-like imagery.
