THE COLOR OF WORDS Introspective for a colorful communication Art Concept: Colors don't exist, there are only waves, our brains are the only ones encodes by perceiving the color. The same goes for words. Words do not exist, only their meaning exists. (Umberto Eco - semiologist) Both color and words therefore have in common our subjective perception. I have drawn from semiology/semiotics (the science that studies signs in communication, where signs "stand for something else and is interpreted as something different based on the subject and context"), I wanted to create a SIGN representing a WORD (signifier) and its SIGNIFICATES. To represent the meaning of the word I used the same method that is used to create a color: the sum of the percentages of 4 primary colors (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black), produces the perceived color. So also words are composed of 4 different percentages of emotions, thoughts, dreams, memories.... The word/color must be looked at, read, interpreted, elaborated.... It’s a very subjective and humoral concept…. Some days I wake up in a black mood, some days in a pink one……. works must be looked at, read, interpreted as it comes. I’m sure that every time you’ll look at those works you’ll find a new meaning and perceive the color in a different way, as it is natural, as the multicolor life is. If you also love colors, irony and believe that a yellow sweater, a pair of green shoes, a pair of red glasses make the difference, on how to face the day, then you are in tune with the project. Because life is multicolor, not just pink.
