ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Spontaneous, sensitive and expressive, modern in structure yet deeply intimate, This series of portraits is my most colourful theme. The layers of interactions between colours underlie the simplicity of these portraits whose expressions evoke both power and vulnerability, to express the wonder of individuality. I paint spontaneously without using brushes in acrylics, dry pigments and inks, building up and detracting paint, producing layers of colour using palette knives, fingers and trailing liquid acrylics, and using sticks and feathers to make marks. My optimistic portraits need no translation, it's the inner feeling that makes it personal to the spectator's own imagination.
