ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The road is the reason for this work. There is a fog that envelops the track and opens a hole. The work is abstract but has a figuration base. There is a concern to work the color and texture.

I have always been very interested in art and culture, especially in painting and music .... so when I paint it’s important I’m surrounded by music, and that this is evident in my strokes and in the composition of my work... some paintings are very funky, others have a “soul”, there are jazzy ones and of course there is no shortage of classics. I have been lucky enough to receive influences from different cultures, such as the Philippines, Spanish, North American, Venezuelan, North European, and some others, which are noticeable in the colors I use and in the themes. And when this is mixed with a creative home environment where different family members (grandparents, uncles, parents, etc.) have also been engaged in painting or similar, it's no wonder that painting became part of my world, one of my passions and ended up being used to create my own works. My studio is next to Madrid, near its “sierra” or mountains. As a painter, I don't have any preference regarding format, although I find large and medium formats more comfortable to paint. Acrylic paint best fits my way of painting, but I'm always experimenting with new textures or mixtures. In my works, I try to convey my experiences and perceptions of the colors, shapes, environments and lighting present in nature. The transitions between the different colors are soft, using gentle shapes and transparencies that blur the boundaries, so that the overall sensation is one of tranquility, harmony and ...... some magic. The colors I use, in some cases the organic textures and the scenarios created, all allow me to create an atmosphere of reflection and calm, in which I leave spaces and shapes that are not obvious, to convey sensations of discovery and novelty. My objective is to show different natural spaces that encourage me to walk, to discover, to enjoy and that are part of my experiences and emotions. Seas, forests, lakes, soft paths among trees, flowers, unexplored corners and sunsets all part of the subject matter that I communicate with, with which I invite the people observing my work to become part of them. As a result of the technique and colours that I use, I have a clear impressionist influence, with a high abstract load in some of the works, especially those in which I use textures. Nevertheless nature is always the main axis, my basic language. If I had to choose 5 words to define my current work, these would be: tranquility, emotion, walks, joy and togetherness.
