Dallas, Texas Laurie Martineau was born in North Carolina and moved to Florida and then finally to Texas at the ripe age of 5 years old. As the daughter of an Air Force Lt. Colonel who later became a teacher and a Mom who was an English Teacher – she had a curious mind from the beginning. Growing up she was drawn to the outdoors spending many hours using her fertile imagination.to create scenes and games and make-believe jobs as a teacher and librarian. Later she went to the University of Texas and studied Geology and Math followed by an MBA in Marketing from University of North Texas. Laurie spent the first 25 years of her work life as a Commercial Real Estate Broker in Dallas, TX where she currently resides. She semi-retired and spent the next many years raising her 2 daughters before embarking on a new creative venture making hand made jewelry and small paintings. This desire to paint and create have always been in the background until she finally had time to sit down and just begin. The sudden loss of her Mom presented a need for an emotional outlet and soon painting became a full time passion. Laurie’s painting is abstract in style and reflects emotion and energy and intuition. Recent work has been an exploration of bright and bold color and form to heighten the senses and surprise the eye – placing contrasting color together adjacent to harmonious blends of each to take you up and down the spectrum. Using my professional experience working with architecture, real estate and design, I blend my love for composition and balance with abstract artwork, creating modern and contemporary artwork that work in many different styles of homes and commercial properties.
