Born in Eastbourne, UK in 1985I have been painting for over ten years and work mainly in acrylic and emulsion. Influences in my work include nature, graphic design, pop art, interior design, Robert Rauschenberg, Katie Pratt, Camille Rose Garcia and Jackson Pollock. Over time my work has separated into two different styles.Captain Raz is a cartoon figure who was born out of my thoughts on death and mortality. By using bright colours and a disinterested expression on his face, I aim for the dipictions of him to be humorous and light-hearted whilst commenting on humanity's gradual desensitization to pain and suffering. My abstract works are primarily a gaudy display of bright colours, sequins and glitter. They are an experiment in colour and form, so the way the paint is applied is not thought out, but is placed as randomly as possible, using many different tools, (or sometimes none at all) to add to the sense of fun and superficiality. This lack of profundity ultimally remarks on a world slowly becoming addicted to showbizness.
