Art has the ability to empower, comfort, remind and inspire us. It can to reach deep into our psyches and extract specific experiences, feelings and times in our lives. I’m honored to have the privilege to witness these stories and tread that sacred ground. My work, which is largely abstract, draws from my writing. The prose and poetry I produce examine what it means to be human, our experiences, our stories and how we can grow to be more. My topics explore our human fabric and tease apart the thread of our common beliefs and behaviours. By working with paint, inks, graphite, markers and words, I focus on exploring line and space through layers of paint and mark making. Often, I build multiple layers into a piece of art. Many works are rich in symbolism. Sometimes, I use resin as part of my finishing process. When I share my work, it is with the intention of sharing our humanity and nourishing the viewer.
