ABOUT THE ARTWORK

People carve different symbols, messages and other obscenity on trees. The reason behind these messages are often unknown, and they are certainly unprovoked. However I think the urge behind them is similar to that of painting. I was interested in figuring what would happen if I combined these two forms of expressions. From a distance the carvings are not visible (since the picture is small) and as the viewer takes a closer look the carvings are revealed. I wanted to showcase this contrast between the innocent landscape and the human marks.
