About The Artwork
This colorful Jamaican restaurant and grocery store was a fixture in Ybor City, Tampa, Fl. for many years. Cephas was the owner’s name. He illustrated Jamaican Rastafarian history, culture, and beliefs on the structure. The cuisine was all Jamaican. Unfortunately it’s been closed down and his beautiful signage was painted over. I’m glad I made a photo of it nearly 20 years ago. I try to paint like Dean Mitchell but I have to add an impressionistic flavor to it.
