About The Artwork

This collection was inspired very much by being in quarantine. After knowing that we are all inside, some alone, some with your significant other , and others with family. As I was thinking and as I was visualizing this collection, I knew I wanted each painting to depict a woman on or in her bed. How many times in life have we had these moments. How many times have we sat on the end of the bed after a long day or after someone has caused us pain. That is what this collection is about. Those moments of being introspective on our lives.

Jillian Zepeda is a Dallas-based Artist who fuses realism and abstraction in her work. Her work revolves around the human form and relationships. Her work starts with a theme and a series of short stories before it gets translated onto the canvas. Jillian refers to her work as “Abstract from Realism” because she always uses reference photos of people and the human form. Even though her work is very abstract it always starts as realism but then it morphs into shapes and abstraction. Jillian always paints in collections; very rarely does she do a one-off painting. She paints in collections because each collection is a theme, and each painting is a story within that theme Jillian's mission is a creative expression of heartfelt stories through abstract painting. It is the portrayal of relationships and human emotions that can be portrayed through color, form, and texture. The stories and emotions painted reflect stories that we have all experienced.
